Melbourne Cup Races & Family Day Out

This is more of a personal related post, but I figure I am my brand and my business, so why not share a bit about me personally and what I’ve been getting up to.  Last week my dad and brother were over visiting from NZ, so I’ve been playing the local Melbourne tourist and tour guide for the week.  They came over for the Spring Racing Carnival and the Melbourne Cup and this was a very important family day for us this year. Originally my step-mum, Annette, was attending who sadly passed earlier this year after a brief battle with cancer.  My dad wanted to honor the trip and pay homage to Annette, who would have wanted us all to still go along.  Along with Annettes daughter Kelly and partner Iri (who you might remember I photographed earlier in the year), we made it a family day and a day of celebration and remembrance.  It was my first time attending the Melbourne Cup day and I must admit after everything I had heard, especially the horror stories about GA, it was actually rather tame but a really great day and for the first time I managed to back the winning horse, Dunaden, in the cup race! Stoked about that!  We had some of the best seats in the house directly across from the finish line with a perfect view. These photos were mostly taken my partner Chris with our new Fuji X100 digital cameras, which I will be posting all about soon also.
