They don’t call them the terrible two’s for nothing! I spent the better half of this afternoon literally chasing around the darling little Pheobe who was having an absolute blast exploring the Carlton Gardens with her mum Robyn. Ordinarily I don’t have a lot to do with children myself and people who know me will know that I don’t really consider myself to be very maternal and children probably aren’t on the cards for me (with the exception of my Peanut of course) so I didn’t quite know what to expect out of a two year old. Turns out however it’s not that dis-similar to photographing pets, which I do often. It takes a certain patience, a lot of exuberance and stamina, and a lot of running around! But it’s all worth it for a little bit of fun spent capturing the essence of childhood. Pheobe immediately took a liking to the park and especially the water fountain. I’m sure she could have spent hours just finding things to be able to throw into the fountain and watch get sprinkled with water and float away.
Robyn and her husband Tony run our local cafe, ‘Miss Marmalade‘ in Brunswick, where we often indulge ourselves for breakfast and she has been a great support to me and my photography business (it also helps that she just adores Peanut). Having seen some of my work, she approached me to photograph her daughter Pheobe, which I was immediately thrilled about. Miss Marmalade is a cafe where yummy mummies, children and pets are always welcomed and they have a very unique to Brunswick menu. Make sure you check it out sometime and in the meantime here’s some shots of Pheobe.
